Glanz is a brand that has been producing tonearm and cartridge masterpieces for many years, and has been adored by audio lovers for a very long time. Their ultimate tonearm, constructed with the technical skill of a craftsman deeply versed in the characteristics of materials, is now able to bring you the to the pinnacle of original “pure” sound. The Glanz tonearm, manufactured with strict guidelines, is the absolute front runner, able to demonstrate the true value of analogue audio. The story of its revival can now be told.
Mr. Masataka Hamada who was the developer of Glanz at Mitachi Acoustics, has resurrected the brand within his own company, Hamada Electric. After engaging in the development of Mitachi Onkyo, Masataka spent many years doing jobs such as repairing Ortofon’s SPU series cartridges (especially the early models). During this period, he learned a great deal from the audio fans, who talked about their dissatisfaction, and made suggestions concerning the various tonearms that were being sold around the world. Armed with this information, the Glanz tonearm was designed and manufactured to faithfully reproduce sound. Glanz’s policy is to pursue original pure sound. The company’s products are aiming for the top. Original pure sound is the pinnacle! The sound produced by the current electronics industry is far removed from original pure sound, but when Mr. Masataka Hamada airs his opinion about this, he’s considered eccentric! He’s therefore keen to get to know other people who agree, even a little bit, with his ideas.
The material of the main body are made of hard stainless steel. The process of scraping has been extremely difficult, but as a result, Glanz is proud to say that the sound quality has reached an unparalleled level. If the fulcrum, which is essential for sound quality, is a weak structure, it will reverberate and directly impact the overall sound quality. In this machine, the four large bearings are firmly supported, preventing resonance and shake, and enhancing tracing ability. In particular, the lower bearing in the vertical axis uses a high-precision thrust bearing, giving a strut structure which allows heavy arms to move with high sensitivity, greatly enhancing the tracing capability.
The Glanz tonearms, constructed in a precise way, rejects all things wasteful and extravagant, and represents the culmination of simplicity & beauty. You may add to this the sophisticated design of the arm lifter. However, if you desire, you can omit the arm lifters and other accessories, and thereby enjoy simple styling with sound quality as the highest priority. You can choose from a heavy weight Ortofon cartridge, right through to a lightweight type cartridge.
The gentle, beautifully curved line, well-balanced size and weight, and the finest stainless steel gloss to give you goosebumps. In the end (and this is no word of exaggeration) this single tonearm has become a natural conduit for experiencing original pure sound. When you finally experience it, you will be thrilled by the quality of sound that can never be described as merely an accessory. With its traditional name revived to meet the present age, The Glanz takes centre stage wearing its new crown!
